Keeping Your App Secure: Device OS Update
What is changing?
We are making your banking even safer. From 1 September 2026, smartphones running older operating system (OS) may be asked for a little extra verification when making selected transactions. Basically, an added security step to keep your money protected.
For now, a selfie check is the only additional verification and it applies to the following transactions above RM5,000:

Selfie check applies? |
Outgoing transactions: DuitNow P2A, P2P, POS, ID, Intrabank |
Yes |
Visa Card transactions |
No |
Transactions below the threshold on N-2-and-below devices |
No, existing behaviour |
What does N-2 mean?
N is the latest OS release. N-1 is one release behind and N-2 is two releases behind. Anything older than that is what we call legacy OS. As of October 2026, the latest releases are iOS 27 and Android 17, so here is what that looks like:

Is my phone affected?
This applies to phones on N-2 and below. Here is a quick guide:

Not sure which one you are on? Check the steps below:

How to update your OS?
- iPhone: Open Settings > General > Software Update
- Android: Open Settings > About Phone > Update
Can I still log in?
Yes, we are not blocking anyone from logging in. You can keep using the KAF Digital Bank app as usual. The extra verification only kicks in for certain transactions.

What exactly will change for me?
If your phone is on N-2 or below, you may be asked to complete step-up verification. If your phone is already up to date, nothing changes for you.
Do I need to do anything?
No action is required. That said, if you would like a smoother experience, we recommend updating your OS so there are no extra verification steps on your transactions.
Tip: Back up your phone before updating, just to be safe. Menu names can differ slightly depending on your phone brand.
