Account Recovery Process

Ensuring the security of your account is paramount, and KAF Digital Bank (KAF DB) has implemented a robust account recovery process to protect your financial information. This guide provides a detailed overview of the account recovery steps, including PIN recovery and the initiation of the “Forgot PIN” feature.

 

 

Instances that will trigger account recovery process

Secure PIN Entry:

In any case of entering the wrong PIN during any action in the app that requires you to enter a 6-digit PIN;

  • You have a maximum of three attempts to enter their Secure PIN.
  • After three failed attempts, a 60-second cooling period is imposed before the fourth attempt.
  • If the fourth attempt fails, a longer cooling period of 180 seconds is enforced before the fifth and final attempt is allowed.
  • After five failed attempts, the PIN authenticator is disabled.
  • You must undergo the e-KYC process to regain access, which includes document verification, facial recognition, and liveness checks.

 

Initiate “Forgot PIN” During Any Action in the App that Requires You to Enter a 6-digit PIN:

  • On the page that you need to enter a 6-digit PIN, you can initiate the Forgot PIN process.
  • For registered devices, you are only allowed to do one attempt per day and will restrict any further attempt until the next day.
  • If you are initiating the “Forgot PIN” feature must redo e-KYC, including document verification, facial recognition, and liveness checks.
  • After verification, you will proceed to set up a new PIN, followed by a status page on the setup of that new PIN.

 

 

Recovery Results

  • If your e-KYC results pass, you can log in after a 12-hour buffer time.
  • Successful recovery results will notify you  via email and push notification, activating the new device in 12 hours.
  • Buffer time applies only if the recovery process results in a "Pass".
  • If your results are "Under Review" or "Fail," a 12-hour buffer time does not apply.

 

 

Retry and Contact Us Options

  • If your results are "Fail" or "Under Review," you can retry the recovery process or contact KAF DB for manual review.
  • After the first attempt fails, a retry is only allowed on the next day (1 time attempt per day).

 

 

Additional Notifications

Incorrect PIN Entry:

  • An error message prompts users to enter the correct PIN during reconfirmation.

Account Recovery Initiation:

  • Upon initiating the account recovery flow, a push notification and email are sent to the user.
  • A second notification is sent upon completion of the process.
