Account Recovery Process
Ensuring the security of your account is paramount, and KAF Digital Bank (KAF DB) has implemented a robust account recovery process to protect your bank account. This guide provides a detailed overview of the account recovery steps, including PIN recovery and the initiation of the “Forgot PIN” feature.
Instances that will trigger the account recovery process
Invalid Secure PIN Entry: In any case of entering the wrong PIN during any action in the app that requires you to enter a 6-digit PIN;
- You have a maximum of three attempts to enter your Secure PIN.
- After three failed attempts, a 60-second cooldown period is imposed before the fourth attempt.
- If the fourth attempt fails, a longer cooldown period of 180 seconds is enforced before the fifth and final attempt is allowed.
- After five failed attempts, the PIN authenticator is disabled.
- You must undergo the e-KYC process to regain access, which may include document verification, facial recognition, and liveness checks.
Initiate “Forgot PIN” During Any Action in the App that Requires You to Enter a 6-digit PIN:
- You can start the Forgot PIN process on any screen that asks for your 6-digit PIN.
- For registered devices, you're limited to one attempt per day, with further attempts restricted until the next day.
- Initiating "Forgot PIN" requires you to redo e-KYC, including document verification, facial recognition, and liveness checks.
- After successful verification, you'll set up your new PIN, followed by a confirmation status page.
Recovery Results
- If your electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) results are a "Pass," you will be able to log in after a 12-hour "Cooling-Off Period."
- If a device recovery process is successful and results in a "Pass," you will receive an email and push notification. The new device will then be activated after a 12-hour "Cooling-Off Period."
- The 12-hour Cooling-Off Period only applies when the e-KYC or recovery process yields a "Pass" result. If the results are "Under Review" or "Fail," the 12-hour Cooling-Off Period does not apply.
Retry and Contact Us Options
- If your results are "Fail" or "Under Review," you can retry the recovery process or contact KAF DB for manual review.
- After the first attempt fails, a retry is only allowed on the next day (1 attempt per day).
Additional Notifications
Incorrect PIN Entry:
- An error message prompts users to enter the correct PIN during reconfirmation.
Account Recovery Initiation:
- Upon initiating the account recovery flow, a push notification and email are sent to the user.
- A second notification is sent upon completion of the process.
